This first lesson is about getting everything ready for the following lessons. The most important thing here is that you have a SAP HANA system on which to run the exercises. The version of the HANA system does not matter much, as most of the content refers to both HANA 1. 0 and 2.0. Where this is not the case, it is mentioned separately.

You already have an SAP HANA system

It is important that the system is accessible via SQL console and that you have a database user who is also allowed to create objects (e.g. tables) in his database schema.

The development environment does not matter, the main thing is that a SQL console is available. Please try them out by entering and executing the following statement in your private schema:

CREATE TABLE test(id INT, name NVARCHAR(39));

This test is all about not getting an error message. If so, you probably have sufficient permissions for this course.

You do not yet have an SAP HANA system

If you don’t have an SAP HANA system, the first topic teaches you how to create one in the SAP Cloud Platform.

It costs nothing and is done in about 15 minutes.

After everyone has an SAP HANA system and access with the SQL console is working, the demo data model needs to be installed. This is also quite simple and is described in the 2nd topic of this lesson.
