Working where others go on vacation! This week I had the pleasure of delivering a BW/4HANA Delta training for our customer Gisa GmbH at the Gröbern Lake Resort. It was a very pleasant experience for both trainer and participants. There are many good reasons not to hold a training on your own premises. Here is a short field report.

View of the lake from the terrace

Admittedly, the journey was a bit longer. By train to Halle (Saale) and then continuing to the Gröbern Lake Resort in a car sharing vehicle. That does take a while. But the view of the quiet lake made up for every mile travelled.

The training started punctually at 9:00 in the morning in an impressively situated conference room offering a view of the calm lake. Two days of intensive learning and discussion all about BW/4HANA Delta, followed by relaxed moments on the beach and in the cool water. The shared conclusion? An enriching and memorable experience.

Not an Everyday Setting

The participants work every day in the same office, from home, or onsite at customers. For a training, a little distance from the daily routine is very beneficial. It makes it easier to engage with the training content. And not to respond immediately to every "urgent" email. You are simply out of the daily grind and are not so easily distracted by colleagues.

Like a Little Vacation

By choosing a holiday resort, and because most participants also stayed overnight there, it was at the same time a great team event for the customer's employees. After work, the participants could go for a swim in the lake. And in the evening there was a shared dinner and many exciting discussions. That is perfectly suited for good team building.

The open-air lounge in front of our conference room was wonderful for the coffee breaks. They felt just like a vacation. We were also very lucky with the weather.

Professional Facilities

Not every customer has premises suitable for a training with 10 participants. Over the past 5 years I have experienced quite a lot here. Training rooms in the basement without windows. Or rooms without enough seats. At one customer, in the middle of summer, we were in a "training room" without air conditioning or the possibility of opening a window without street noise. In short: If the rooms are not suitable, the efficiency of a training and the motivation of the participants suffer. There are many hotels with professional conference rooms. Brandeis Consulting also offers suitable training rooms in a good location.

Our Conclusion

Choosing a picturesque lake resort for the BW/4HANA Delta training not only boosted the efficiency and engagement of the participants, but also offered a welcome change from the daily routine. In addition to professional facilities and amenities, the location became a perfect team-building experience. It highlights how the surroundings can significantly influence the success and satisfaction of a training. There is no doubt that more trainings should be considered at such inspiring locations in the future.
